Aliplast announced the opening of its R3GID rigid-plastics recycling plant in Modena, Italy, on 20 October 2026. The Herambiente subsidiary describes annual capacity of up to 30,000 tonnes. That figure is a stated capacity, rather than a report of tonnes already produced. [news]
What the announcement establishes
The company puts investment at EUR 48.8 million, including EUR 7.7 million in direct PNRR funding. It names NEXTCHEM as technology partner and identifies NX Replast as the recycling technology. The release describes feedstock from municipal and industrial rigid-plastics waste. [news]
Its purity statement is attributed to machinery data and performance tests carried out by Aliplast itself in footnote 1. We have not examined those underlying tests or a product certificate, so the announcement is not treated here as independent confirmation of recyclate quality. [news]
The operating evidence still to watch
For a packaging buyer, opening, available capacity and qualified supply answer different questions. Our interpretation is that this announcement adds a facility milestone to the capacity record; it does not yet supply a utilization rate, a saleable-output series or evidence that a particular packaging application is qualified. [news]
A useful follow-up would identify the actual recovered polymer grades, output period and customer specification for which they are sold. Until those records exist, the capacity number should stay attached to the announced plant, without becoming a market-wide recovery result. [news]
